Shipping Containers - An Ideal Storage Solution

Shipping Containers at Liverpool Firework Display

On Bonfire night it seems particularly appropriate to discuss the use of shipping containers in connection to fireworks.    It may surprise you to know that second hand shipping containers - particularly 20ft containers - are in great demand as secure storage for fireworks.    Logically if you think of a shipping container as a steel container you can see that it would not be easily flammable and therefore particularly appropriate for storing fireworks.   Most iso containers have a 30 minute fire rating which makes them ideal for the storage of fireworks.
But it is no just the construction of a shipping container suitable for a firework storage container.   The fact that you can hire containers for a month at a time for very competitive prices means that they ideal for the short term storage that fireworks often demand.  Let us not forget too that shipping containers are easily transported and require little in the way of ground preparation.   An even surface is often all that is required.
However, as the picture above indicates, we have not only been asked to provide shipping containers for storage.   In January this year we supplied containers to be used as stands to put on boats so that the spectacular firework display to celebrate the end of Liverpool’s year as the European City of Culture.  And an amazing display it was too.
Wherever and however you celebrate bonfire night, do be careful and enjoy the fireworks in safety.   And maybe, just maybe, the fireworks you see might have been stored at some point in a shipping container.

Shipping Containers - Halloween

Shipping Containers and Halloween may seem to you an unlikely combination.   I certainly have to admit that it is not the first thing that springs to my mind!   However, Susan has been plotting all week to produce a Halloween picture for the 31st October.   I personally think it has something to do with her American family’s influence.

I can’t really see us getting many requests for this as a shipping container conversion but you never know!!

For those of you familiar with the prefixes on containers that indicate the shipping line the container was manufactured for we did think of a pun especially for Halloween.   This container would have to have the POCU prefix - so we could really say Hocus pocus and make you groan!

Anyway, have a great weekend!

Shipping Containers Help With Christmas

With it being the 1st October, thoughts are - scarily - going to turn towards Christmas.  Christmas cakes and Christmas puddings to be made and the first decorations appearing in the shops.  So, what on earth has all of this to do with shipping containers?

Boxes for Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child is a scheme whereby individuals collect presents and necessities for a child overseas and put them in an old shoe box. The boxes can contain things like toothbrushes, combs, small toys, chocolate etc.  Then the filled shoe boxes are gathered together at various points throughout the UK at drop-off points in shops, churches, schools etc before they are forwarded  on to a central depot.  From there the boxes are often put into 20ft or 40ft steel containers and are shipped to their country of destination.

Shipping Containers awaiting shipment

Last year, Operation Christmas Child sent 1.30 million shoe boxes to hospitals, orphanages, refugee camps, homeless shelters and impoverished neighborhoods.  Should you want more information please log on to www.operationchristmaschild.org.uk.

“I thought I would just say a big thank you for your help with sorting out the delivery of our beautiful new container. I expected on my return to work to arrange to have it moved to its final resting place, but was very pleased to see on my return it is sat exactly where we needed it. Once again many thanks...”
